UN Women is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. It was established in 2010 to accelerate progress towards the fulfillment of women’s rights and gender equality worldwide. UN Women works to strengthen gender-responsive laws, policies, and institutions, and to increase women’s leadership and participation in all spheres of life. The organization focuses on advancing women’s economic empowerment, ending violence against women and girls, and promoting women’s rights in humanitarian and fragile contexts.

Through partnerships with governments, civil society organizations, and the private sector, UN Women strives to create a world where women and girls can fully participate in all aspects of society, free fromdiscrimination and violence.
