Suffering from the inefficiency of the League of Nations regarding the peace promotion and surveillance, after World War II; the United Nations formed the Security Council as the only binding organ of the UN. United Nations Security Council was formed as one of the main bodies of the United Nations and is in charge of providing and maintaining international peace and security. The UNSC consists of 5 permanent and 10 non-permanent member states. The permanent members are the United States of America, the United Kingdom, the People’s Republic of China, the Russian Federation and the Republic of France. P5 nations preserve a right to exercise the veto power. The non-permanent states are elected to terms of two years as a consequence of an election held in the United Nations General Assembly. Being the most eligible and highest organ of the United Nations, Security Council maintains special powers including the right to condemn, demand and implement restrictive sanctions on a state or an organization. Aside from these very specific authorizations and eligibilities, if a member of the Security Council militarily intervenes in an internal conflict without the consent of the respective state, this country may be deprived of voting during the discussions concerning the issue.
