The Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee, abbreviated as SOCHUM, is the third committee of the United Nations General Assembly. In the sessions of the Cultural Committee, every member of the United Nations does have a right of representation along with the observer states and Non-Governmental Organizations which are unable to vote upon the substantive matters. SOCHUM is responsible for dealing with social and humanitarian issues, and questions regarding fundamental human rights.
